Barcelona airport to city center

In this blog-post I will show you the easiest ways to get from the Barcelona airport to the city center of Barcelona. I will show you two different options.

The first option is obvious, and it’s to take a taxi. It’s the quickest and most convenient way to get all the way to your accommodation.

The second option is to take the Aerobus.

There are two terminals in Barcelona. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is used by most of the major airlines and Terminal 2 is the low-cost terminal with airlines like Ryanair, Easyjet and Norwegian.

Official Barcelona Taxi’s are black and yellow as seen in this picture above and you should be able to pay with either credit/debit card or cash. A taxi to the city center costs somewhere between 35-45 euros, depending on the time of day and how many bags you have. The journey time is 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

The second option that I suggest is Aerobus. Click on this link to get to their English website. It runs every 5 to 10 minutes, 24/7, 365 days per year. So even if you land in the middle of the night, there will be a bus for you. It’s also the quickest way to Barcelona City Center, unless you take a taxi.

Tickets are €7.25 for a one-way and €12.50 for a return ticket, where the return has to be used within 30 days. Children under 4 years old travel for free. There are no discount for children 4 years and older. You can buy tickets online, at the bus-stop or onboard directly with the driver. Credit/debit cards and cash are accepted. There are few other tickets available (combined tickets with access etc.). See their website for the full details.

If you travel with Easyjet, you have to pay attention. Easyjet uses Terminal 2C exclusively and there is an Aerobus stop here as well. There is no ticket machine though, but you can buy the ticket onboard or online in advance.

The Aerobus will stop at Plaza Espana, Granvia – Borell, Plaza Universitat and finally Plaza Catalunya. Journey time is between 20 – 35 minutes depending on traffic. I hope this is helpful.
