In this blogpost I will show you all you need to know about Grandvalira Ski System. We will look at how to get here, things to keep in mind and general tips and ideas.
Grandvalira is the largest ski resort in the Pyrenees and one of the premier winter destinations in southern Europe. Located in Andorra, it offers over 200 kilometers of marked pistes spread across several interconnected sectors. The resort ranges from about 1,700 to 2,640 meters in altitude, providing reliable snow conditions throughout the season, often from December to April.
We travelled to Grandvalira in February to test out the ski system and conditions. We were impressed!

📍 Where it is
Grandvalira is located in the eastern Pyrenees in Andorra, between Spain and France. The ski area stretches across sectors such as Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, and Canillo. It’s about 3–4 hours by car from Barcelona or Toulouse airports.

🏔️ Altitude & Snow
The resort ranges from approximately 1,700 m to 2,640 m above sea level. Its high altitude and extensive snowmaking system provide reliable snow conditions from December to April. It offers over 200 km of pistes for all ability levels.

how to get here
The closest airports are Toulouse, Barcelona, Girona and Lleida. We drove from Barcelona and it took around 3 hours. Parking indoors was around 25 euros per day in Pas de la Casa. There are cheaper options if you park outside. There are also several bus companies offering a transfer bus service to Grandvalira.

accommodation
The most popular villages to stay in are Pas de la Casa, Soldeu, El Tarter and Canillo. There are plenty of hotels and apartments, and you can use websites like booking.com, Airbnb and hotels.com to find your accommodation. Prices ranges from around 80 euros per night to over 400 euros per night for the most exclusive hotels.
We stayed in a newly renovated hotel called Hotel Sporting and it was perfectly located in Pas de la Casa with 100m walking to the ski lifts. The rooms were comfortable and quiet and the hotel offered a nice breakfast and dinner buffé.

ski rental
There are plenty of ski rental shops in the area which makes the competition tough and the prices quite reasonable. A tip here is to check with your accommodation if they have any partnership with a ski rental shop. It’s very common. In our case, they gave us a 10% discount if we rented with Pic Negre Ski Shop. Expect to pay around 30-40 euros per day for skis, boots and poles.

ski pass
Your ski pass will cover the whole Grandvalira area. Ski passes for adults are around 68 euros per day and for children up to 11 years the price is around 42 euros per day. The ski passes can easiest we bought on site, in one of the automated machines or at your accommodation.
Prices for the 2025-26 season are as follows:
68 euros per day for adults 42 euros per day for children 5-11 years old.
Prices are dynamic and can change depending on your dates.

Food and Drinks
For food and drinks there are some decent options in the slopes. Burgers are around 12-15 euros and a meal would be around 17-20 euros with a drink. My favourite was this chicken burger at Burgers&Drinks mid station in El Tarter. And a beer will set you back around 4-5 euros.
Grandvalira has a wide range of dining options, from traditional Andorran mountain cuisine to modern international restaurants. On-mountain lodges serve hearty Pyrenean dishes, while village restaurants offer everything from tapas to fine dining experiences.

🎉 Après-Ski & Nightlife
Pas de la Casa is known for the liveliest nightlife, with bars and late-night venues. Soldeu and El Tarter offer a more relaxed but still vibrant après-ski scene with mountain terraces and cocktail bars.
last words
That’s all from Grandvalira! We had an amazing time and will for sure come back again. Everything was top notch and I must say that the prices are reasonable for what you get. Well maintained slopes and an excellent ski-system. On the official website for Grandvalira, you will find a lot of valuable information, including an interactive map (showing open slopes and lifts), snow reports, webcams and much more.
