Flight details bcn-mad

map

This is a domestic flight of around 500 km with an estimated flight time of around 45 minutes. We choose the afternoon flight, departing Barcelona at 5pm.

There is a dedicated Business Class Check-in and bag drop. 2 check-in bags of 23kg each are included.

The check-in area was almost empty so everything went very quickly. The flight to Madrid is one of the only flights Iberia is operating out of Barcelona and they have around 12 flights per day on this route.

Fast track is also included in the Business class ticket, follow the signs for fast track. It’s not where the normal security is.

lounge

The Iberia Lounge is located next to gates A01/A02 at Barcelona El Prat Terminal 1. It’s mainly used for the Iberia passengers on the Barcelona-Madrid route, so it doesn’t get very busy usually. Food and drinks where all kept fresh and clean.

For who: Iberia Business Class passengers (especially on Barcelona–Madrid), Iberia Plus Gold/Platinum, Oneworld elites, and some lounge membership cards.

What’s inside: Snacks & beverages, newspapers/magazines, Wi-Fi, TVs, business area, decent seating. Showers usually not available here.

Hours: ~06:00–21:00 daily.

aircraft

seat

As a business class passenger you get to board first. Iberia operates a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft on their shorthaul routes. Today we are flying on a 7 year old A320 NEO, registration EC-NAZ (A320-271N).

This is an update interior featuring their latest seats (B/E Aerospace Pinnacle leather upholstered seats). The first 6 rows are dedicated to Business Class, where the middle seat is left empty. There is a wide 4 way adjustable headrest and a seat recline of 3″. The rest of the cabin has a normal 3-3 configuration with non-reclining Recaro SL3510 slimline seats.

Here you can see the legroom and the seat design with a generous seat pitch of 30”. There are charging ports for both USB-A and C. They don’t work on the ground. They turn blue when they can be used. There is also a universal AC socket.

snack service

snacks

As it is such a short flight, there is only a quick service with drinks and snacks. It was served promptly from the friendly cabin crew.

onboard wifi

There is wifi onboard and as a business class traveller you get complimentary wifi for messaging. If you want the full speed you need to pay 5.99 euro. The internet worked well.

my honest review of iberia business class

review

From start to finish, this was a very good flight. Check-in went smoothly and the fast track security saved us some time. Signage for the Iberia lounge is very poor, but luckily the woman in the check-in pointed out that it was next to our departing gate A01. Otherwise, we would have trouble finding it.

The lounge was clean and not too busy. A good selection of hot and cold food with plenty of drinks and snacks. It’s great to be next to the departure gate, so you can maximise your time in the lounge.

We boarded on time and the crew was very friendly. Seat design and space was plentiful for this short flight and we got the latest of the A320 interior which was nice to see. There was a minor delay of about 20 minutes because of some loading issues. I believe they carry cargo/freight on these flights.

The service in air was quick and friendly. Nothing to complain about there. We landed in Madrid on time and our bags was delivered promptly. Very happy with this short flight.
