In this blog-post I will show you the easiest ways to get from the Gatwick Airport to the city centre of London. I will show you three different options. There are two different terminals at Gatwick Airport, the North and South Terminal. The train station is located in the South Terminal, so if you arrive to the North Terminal, you have to take the free Shuttle Train that runs between the two terminals.

1st option – taxi
The first option is obvious, and it’s to take a taxi. It’s the most convenient way to get all the way to your accommodation, but might not be the quickest. Travelling times to the city centre of London are around 60-90 minutes, depending on traffic. It might be the best option if you are going to places not directly connected with railway.

2nd option – gatwick express
The second option is to take the Gatwick Express Train. It’s the quickest way to get to London Victoria Station, but it’s not the cheapest. A one-way ticket is £24.00 (2025). Travelling time is around 30 minutes.

3rd Option – regular trains
The third option is to take the regular trains. They are more than half the price of the Gatwick Express Train and the travelling time to the London City Centre is only about 5 minutes more. They run very frequently during the day-time but after midnight, there are only one to two trains per hour.

Southern Railway offers services to London Victoria with stops in East Croydon and Clapham Junction. The ticket all the way to London Victoria is £10.70 normally. Travelling to to London Victoria is around 35 minutes.
Thameslink offers services to London Bridge (£10.70), also stopping in East Croydon. Travelling time is around 30 minutes. Some of these services then continues to the stations Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and London King’s Cross / St Pancras International. See picture below.
