Here you can clearly see the exit marked exit Switzerland. This is the exit you want to take. As you exit the customs this is what you’re gonna see. Airport taxi, bus to Basel city and car rental.

efficient and affordable option – airport bus

In my opinion the easiest way to get to Basel city center is to take the airport bus number 50. The bus service runs every 10 to 15 minutes from Monday to Sunday, starting at 430 in the morning finishing around 1230 after midnight.

Ticket machine

From these green machines you can buy your train ticket. But here’s a good thing. You might not even have to buy a ticket. With every booking at a Basel hotel, hostel, bed and breakfast or apartment you’re entitled to the Basel card. So if you’re asked for your ticket by a ticket inspector all you have to show them is your reservation and an ID.

If you don’t have a hotel/hostel/airbnb reservation you can buy a ticket in the machine. A single ticket is 6.60 Swiss franc. You can pay with debit or credit card, Apple and Google Pay. From the airport to the Basel train station the journey time is just 16 minutes. The Basel train station is the final stop. Basel train station is centrally located and you can connect here with trams, buses or just walk. And if you want to try some of the world’s most expensive coffee you can visit the Starbucks just next to the station. Cappuccino, Croissant and an Americano for 16 euros.

alternative option – taxi

The quickest and most convinent way to get all the way to your accomodation is to take a taxi. It will cost you around 20 – 40 Swiss franc to the center of Basel, depending on time of day and demand. Normal taxis are available but also companies like Uber and Bolt are also available.
